Entering password all the time
I downloaded Thunderbird version 91.6.1 (Windows 10) and have to enter a password to use the imap server AND to send messages on the smtp server. Everytime. I use LastPass to store my password for the email service provider and use that password for Thunderbird. TB preferences has no saved passwords. I would like to open Thunderbird without entering any password as I was doing on the older version of TB. Any advice is appreciated.
We also lost our address books in the download. I eventually learned how to restore them from the .mab files in AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\-.default This is another unnecessary glitch that should be fixed.

When you enter password at prompt you need to select the checkbox 'Use Password Manager to remember the password' before you click on 'OK'.
I wish the solution was that simple but it doesn't work.
Does LastPass have any automatic control of TB? If it does, disable it and let TB manage passwords.
If the checkbox in the password prompt is missing, check the pref. signon.rememberSignons in Preferences/General/Indexing, Config. editor and make sure it's true, then restart TB.
How old was the previous TB? If it was 'very old', it might have left behind obsolete password files in the profile that are affecting the new version.
I asked the service provider for help and he found that the profile had been corrupted. He deleted it, created a new one and the problem was solved.
