Allow popup in Thunderbird MailExtension

Hello community,

I'm writing a MailExtension and would like to use the Google API but when I want to get an access token the popup is blocked and I get the following error:

20:21:19.592 [GSI_LOGGER]: Failed to open popup window on url: https://accounts.google.com/o/oauth2/v2/auth?gsiwebsdk=3&cli…token&include_granted_scopes=true&enable_serial_consent=true. Maybe blocked by the browser? client:39:207

How can I allow popups for the MailExtension or Thunderbird in general? In the manifest.json I tried almost all permissions but in vein.
