After I upgraded my system (NixOS) from 23.05 to 24.11, both Firefox and Thunderbird experience a 30 second delay between doing right click and the context menu appearing.

After clicking on a menu option, there is another 30 second delay before the menu disappears and the action is carried out.

Happens also in safe mode, and after deleting the .mozilla directory and starting from scratch.

No other GUI on the system (including non-gecko browsers) are affected.

Firefox version is 133.0.3

Forgot to mention, disabling hardware acceleration doesn't help either.

And it is *exactly* 30 seconds always - like it's trying to do something and hitting a timeout. Something unnecessary, given that the menus show up correctly afterwards.

Were you able to find a solution for this?

I've got a similar issue where there is a delay when I normal click on the hamburger menu. I haven't timed it, but feels like at least 30 seconds or more before the menu actually pops up. Weird thing is that it doesn't happen all the time. Seems to only happen when I've been away from the computer or on a different workspace. Using arch linux with xfce fully updated.

Do you happen to have an application firewall or some other fw blocking outgoing request to "firefox.settings.services.mozilla.com"? Seems that FF is trying to connect to that site when I open the menu, but when it gets blocked then the menu will hang and eventually print with this error once the menu finally loads:

TypeError: NetworkError: Network request failed
