Bookmarks function does not work. I cannot bookmark a page as no pop up window appears. No toolbar appears. Tried restoring bookmarks and it still doesn't work.

Bookmarks function does not work. After installing FireFox v4.0 I cannot view bookmarks or add new ones. I click on 'Add a Bookmark' but no pop up window appears. None of my History appears either. I have tried restoring bookmarks but it doesnt seem to sort anything. Please help, I have valuable bookmarks.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

This can also be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Unfortunately that didnt help either. For some reason the bookmarks only go back upto 28th of March and it doesn't even load anything when I ask to restore it. Think my bookmarks are gone for good :(
