Did you try VIEW and tick STATUS BAR ?

I tried these "solutions" and neither one of them worked for me. Firefox was great until this latest version. I need my progress bar and a lot of users are upset about this. IE did the same thing in their latest version. I wish I had never updated it. Hey Mozilla, put it back! There is an alternative to this annoyance, a free download called slim browser. It has a status bar! Yipee! I like it!

Firefox has a status panel that shows you what is happening during page loading, and also shows the destinations of links when you mouse over them. The status bar showed that as well. You really do not lose that information. I found that I like the addons bar better than the status bar because I could put more buttons on it.
