FIREFOX UPDATES: Are they real?
For about a year, I've been receiving prompts to update Firefox. Are these official communiques? When authorizing the update the process never completes.

Well you appear to be still using the old Firefox 5.0.1 and have missed the 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, and now 9.0/9.0.1 updates.
Firefox 5.0.1 came out in July 11th, 2011 so you would have received update prompts since 6.0 when it was released on August 16th, 2011.

Hello, I am sorry to hear about your issue. Did you try installing the latest version of Firefox from the Firefox homepage?
