In the program file open Mozilla Firefox file and find Firefox (icon) file, create chortcut in your desktop(right click on it) and your are OK.

Do you still have the firefox.exe file in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) ?

You can right-click the program and use Send to Desktop to create a desktop shortcut.

You can also download the full Firefox version and install that version on top of the current Firefox program.

I don't have the specific firefox.exe file under Firefox program folder.

Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.

• Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

• It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Would you believe it worked!

1. I removed from add/remove in control panel 2. Then deleted files from program file folder 3. re-installed latest version

Now, Ironically my bookmarks are still there as well as my previous history.

Your personal data isn't stored in the Firefox program folder as I wrote above, so your bookmarks and other profile data are still there unless you would have chosen to remove all personal data when uninstalling Firefox.
