On a Mac. I don't understand concerns with Flash security. Help?
I find the Firefox article/page about uninstalling Flash 11.3 plugin confusing. Anyone else? I'm on a desktop Mac running Lion 10.7.4. I wasn't aware of any crash problems with whichever Flash version I had, but went ahead and uninstalled it. Was this a smart move or not? If so, how do choose between using 10.x (whatever was suggested.. can't go back to look or will lose this text. By the way, can't textbox text be cached somehow as it's a common aggravation?) or 11.2? I'm more concerned about privacy and reducing intrusion and tracking than more bells and whistles such as cooler, sleeker skin for my Flash plugin. Frankly, I'm wary of all Flash products re adding scripts, 1px gifs, iframes, etc. to follow my surfing, record my identity and feed me ads. I have nothing to hide, but just on principle. I use NoScript, etc.

If you weren't having problems with Flash 11.3, you should leave it installed for the improved security (there are plenty of known security issues in Flash for Mac, Macs aren't invulnerable). The only reason you would want to uninstall it and downgrade to another version is if you are having Flash issues (which it doesn't sound like you were).

Tell me, how evil is Flash plugin? Is there any open source alternative that would work for my Firefox for Mac?
