I signed up for sync on one computer and got a pairing code on the second computer but now I can't bring up the pairing screen on the first computer. Why not?

Try to unlink that computer (device) and reinstall Sync.

You can also check the name and password in the Password Manager.

  • Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

Your account name and password for Firefox Sync is the email address and password that you used to set up that account.
Account: email address and password - Sync Key: (26 chars;no hyphens)
You can find the sync account password and the sync (recovery) key in the password manager on computers where a sync account with a specific e-mail address has been set up.

Look for:

  • chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Password)
  • chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Encryption Passphrase)

Hi shopper104,

  1. Click the Home button (or type about:home in the location bar) to bring up the default Firefox home page.
  2. At the bottom of the home page, click the Sync link to open the Sync settings window.
  3. Then click the Pair a device link and the Firefox Sync Setup window will open.
  4. Enter the twelve character code generated on your other device and click Next.
  5. When the code is accepted you will see a Device Connected message and your device will immediately begin syncing. Click Finish to close the setup window.

Is sync set up and working properly on that computer?

Sync needs to be set up and working on at least one (desktop) computer, so you can enter the 12-character code, provided by the device (computer) that you want to pair, in three fields to pair a device on the computer that has a working Sync setup.

What do you get if you go to Options > Sync ?

Help appreciated.

Desktop - on the 'Pair Device' screen it gives me a code to enter into Android mobile for syncing from desktop.

Mobile - I go to sync option and it also gives me a code to enter into Desktop for syncing.

Problem: I can't enter either code into either device (desktop or mobile) as there is a code already in the code box and neither are editable.

So on Desktop I tried creating new account, but it says my email already exists.

Totally perplexed what to do. Any ideas?

Thanks

I have something similar. Sync is set up on one computer, but second computer says incorrect password every time. I'm trying to enter the recovery key on the second computer to get it to work.
