I wonder if it is a tab that you keep reloading at startup. Otherwise I may ordinarily expect it to be a malware problem, but on a Mac that is less likely than on a Windows PC.
- Does the problem go away if you temporarily set Firefox to show only a blankpage on startup ?
Startup, home page, tabs, and download settings
