Infinite Redirect Loop when selecting group in Google Groups
When I sign in to Google groups, then select one of my groups, I get into an "infinite redirect loop." The page hangs, "Redirecting" appears in the page title, and at the bottom it says (alternating) "waiting for google.com" or "waiting for groups.google.com". I have Firefox 3.6.3, which I think is latest and greatest.
This problem has been reported to Google and you can see the discussion here: http://groups.google.com/group/is-something-broken/browse_thread/thread/8fb760742f6ce7ba/f7065d7bd3499f65#f7065d7bd3499f65
You go to the Google Groups help forum, look at "Is something broken" discussion, and look further for "Infinite Redirect Loop." This may be a problem that only affects moderators.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with Firefox, Google groups, or the interaction.

Issue seemed to clear itself yesterday. I updated to Firefox 3.6.6 and have no problem so far today.

The same is happening to me, but on Google Chrome, so it appears to be an issue with Google Groups, not Firefox.
I have the same problem but I am able to get GG to launch with IE 7. It's not the main GG page, but only when you select an actual group to display...
Me too, on Firefox 3.5.9; not on Safari 4.0.5.
I have the same problem with Chrome since yesterday.
Actually, while this happens to me on Google Chrome, I'm able to view groups normally in Firefox 3.6.3 on Mac OS X 10.6. Odd.
hi, i experienced the same problem on google groups, so i removed all cookies and firefox can connect again.
Me too. I had a same problem. Upgrading Firefox to version 3.6.3 didn't resolve the problem. Finally I deleted all cookies and could connect to my Google groups website.
Same problem here sinds last Friday. Clearing cookies solved the problem.
I have the same problem when using Firefox, but not when using chrome. I'm not a moderator of any of the groups I use.
Same issue, Win7 64-bit. IE8 works fine. Have not tried it with Firefox in Linux yet. This all happened within the last few days (say 2010jun15 give or take).
Clearing out all cookies worked for me, too.
Not that it matters, but my tentative conclusion is that (a) this is a Google problem and (b) it has something to do with cookies, possibly a defective cookie creation mechanism or something like that. In any event, if it doesn't recur, I would further conclude that whatever-it-was has been fixed.
Thanks for the information! I've been having the same problem, BUT, it's not necessary to clear ALL your cookies. I decided to just clear the Google related cookies and it worked. Be sure to scroll down to "groups.google" too. Monica
Thank you, thank you for the comments. I'm an OS X 10.5.8, using Firefox 3.6.3, and am the moderator for several Groups. Deleting the Google related cookies per Monica's suggestion seems to have done the trick. Hope it is still working tomorrow and that Google fixes this problem.
I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 for Ubuntu 10.04 and had the same problems. Clearing the Google cookies and the cache fixed the issue for me as well. Let's see how often it recurs now.
Same issue here using Safari & Chrome browsers (Firefox fixed once I cleared cookies). I cleared everything, and all browsers worked right away, however once I tried to visit those sites again - still redirecting problem, so i now have to clear cookies everytime I want to access the groups, which is annoying.
It's been ongoing for 24 hours with my Firefox browser. I'll try clearing the cookies. Nope, didn't work. Any suggestions?
I think it must be something with Google Groups (though they're not saying anything about it) if so many people are having the same issue. So, I guess, we sit and wait. Yippee!
Same here. Started today without any warning. Weird...
Try Incognito Mode (chrome) or InPrivate (IE). Worked for me, and I didn't accidentally delete all the cookies I actually want to keep.
I'm doing the same, using "Private Browsing" in Firefox
