remove unwanted and unneeded arrows
Maybe I hit a wrong key and sent an instruction I never intended to, but now, in my Sent folder, there is a heavy black arrow to the left of every entry. I can't imagine what purpose it serves, that's why I wondered about hitting the wrong key. Is there some simple way to turn this off?

If you are talking about the arrow in the Correspondents column, right-click the column header/name and disable that column. In its place, enable the Recipient column, which doesn't have that arrow.
