Hi Asjdj, Thank you for your question, I understand that sometimes when you play videos the audio and video stop and start. I also understand that you have reinstalled Firefox, the plugin and that is works in other browsers.

Please also make sure that any adblock software or antivirus is not blocking the streaming in Firefox https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-common-audio-and-video-issues#w_...

I did not see any in the troubleshooting information, but try the rest of those basic troubleshooting steps in the link above. If there continues to be an issue, the next step may be to disable hardware acceleration in Flash: Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See this article for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).

To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:

  1. Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
  2. Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
  3. Click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
  4. Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.

The image "fpSettings1.PNG" does not exist.
  5. Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.
  6. Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
  7. Restart Firefox.

This Flash Player Help - Display Settings page has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.

Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

Hi Asjdj, Have you tried to update to the version 32 that just came out? Also do you have an example site where this is happening, as well as what video player it is happening in?

I can reproduce this as well on Windows 8.0 as well with flash.

Do you happen to see the plugin: OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc. On beta 33 version 2 this showed up on my Windows 8 installation. I disabled Flash and loaded the same videos. There were no stops and starts on the video, as it loaded in HTML5 player. (Right click on the video and select "Debug info", it will show no more dropped packets in youtube :-)) As for the other sites prompting for Flash, I don't think there is a way to change what those sites use for media streaming.

For reference to this use case I filed https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1065491 however I do understand that the question about a future built in video/audio player in the browser is still being developed. With sites that require Flash player, it limits the troubleshooting options. I apologize for the inconvenience.
