I would like to add another search engine to the Thunderbird. (Ixquick, ) In solutions I find a way to add Google, but I would like to add another search engine. I tried to add DuckDuck (.xml file ) in a new map (searchplugins) in /Thunderbird/Profiles but that does not work. (OS X) . I guess a new .xml-file is necessairy? Is this new file searchplugin in Profiles the right solution?

Thanks

search is an implementation of "open search" where the search provider is set by an XML file specific to the provider. Looking at ixquick they sure do not make it easy. I had to use there kludgy interface to add them to Firefox, open the searchplugins folder in my firefox profile, copy the ixquick-ttps.xlm file to the same location in Thunderbird to get it in there. why could the mot have just allowed me to download the XML file for opensearch.

duckduckgo is about a million times easier https://duck.co/help/desktop/thunderbird
