Firefox 47 won't run with Trusteer Rapport running
Hi, just joined to report this. I've tried to update Firefox from version 46 to version 47. I've updated many times before without issue, but this time Firefox 47 would not run after the update, even after a clean install using the offline installer. I have now discovered that this is being caused by my online banking security software, Trusteer Rapport. If I disable it, Firefox 47 runs fine, but if it's enabled firefox.exe appears in the Windows Task Manager briefly and then closes again. Firefox 46 is fine. Has anyone else seen this? Rapport puts an icon by the address bar to indicate its browser integration, but does not appear as an installed extension, so I can't disable it within Firefox. Rapport is working fine in all my other browsers. Anyone any ideas? Cheers, Dave.

Usually the issue is that Trusteer Rapport causes Firefox to crash. You're not getting a crash message are you?
If so, the 'fix' is to update Trusteer Rapport. So I guess the question is - did you update it after the Firefox 47 update?
IMO, the base 'problem' is that Trusteer Rapport interfaces in a manner that requires it to be updated every time that Mozilla releases a new version of Firefox. AFAIK, it is installed as a Plugin and is 'controlled' by the application that it was installed by, or as part of. And IMO I don't think Trusteer has an effective update mechanism that would install the needed update automatically after a Firefox update. Or maybe it isn't capable of being updated without user intervention? IDK, not offered by my bank.
Another problem is that IBM developed that application and doesn't provide end-user support. The banks that provide that application for their customers are responsible toe end-user support. And if you're not a banking customer a person can't even obtain a copy; at least I have been unable to find a source for it.
No, I'm not seeing any crash messages, it just doesn't run! Rapport is the latest version as far as I know, 1609.65. Something has presumably changed between Firefox 46 and Firefox 47 that has caused this problem. I would ask Trusteer about it, but as I'm still using Windows XP and they dropped XP support a few months ago, I know they won't be interested!
The Rapport installers are available here if you want to try it. Don't select a bank, just use the link to download the 32 bit or 64 bit installer.

I don't work for Mozilla, I am a volunteer support contributor. Basically just a guy who has used Firefox since Aug 2002 and have a lot of free time available to try to help other Firefox users.
Understood. It was only because you said "And if you're not a banking customer a person can't even obtain a copy; at least I have been unable to find a source for it." and I thought maybe you could try it if I gave you a source just to see if you had the same result as me with Firefox 47 if you installed it. It does actually protect transactions on any website that you tell it to, you don't have to be an online customer of one of its directly supported banks to use it.
