I can't use thunderbird with the iMac to send photos. Apple says I must use the Email server that comes with the computer. When I do this I can send the photos to myself but they don't save to a download folder like they did with my android computer. They come in as email attachments but I can't save them anywhere on my smartphone. My cellular provider says I need to get an apple smartphone

What does any of that have to do with Thunderbird.

I see references to iMac (Apple product) Mail app (Apple product) An Android Phone (Google product)

I think you are having issues with Apple and their use of icloud. But really I have no idea.

I suggest you ask Apple or Google how to make their products integrate.

If you are using Thunderbird them perhaps I can assist you with that. But your issues appear to be wholly related to your use of Apple products.
