Cannot Connect to Gmail Account - Username or Password Wrong
Hello,
I have been using Thunderbird perfectly on my laptop over the past month to connect to two Gmail accounts using imap. This week Thunderbird was unable to connect to the imap servers and was unable to update my email. I am able to access Gmail's web interface and imap is working fine with the client on my phone. This is what I tried:
1. Restarting laptop - failed 2. Connected to a different network - failed 3. Removing accounts and re-adding them: When I try this, Thunderbird correctly verifies the account settings, but when it tries to log in, I get a "Configuration not correct - is username or password wrong?" error. 4. I did the Google captcha thing to see if I needed to authenticate my device - failed 5. I attempted generating and using a Google app password - failed 6. I removed Thunderbird completely, including deleting the profile folder, reinstalled, and tried again - failed with same error.
I am at my wit's end here because I did not change any settings anywhere, I have tried every solution both Google and Thunderbird support forums have offered, and I know for sure that my username and password are correct.
Please let me know if any more information would be helpful and thanks in advance for your time.
Best, David

Did you also read Gmail’s support article at he https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6009563?hl=en and try its suggestions, including the other links in its top right corner?
5. I attempted generating and using a Google app password - failed
This only makes sense if 2-step authentication is enabled. Is it?
