FX tells me to update Flash Player (Vista SP2), but blocks the installation - I need 25.0.0.171.

Adobe has notified a Flash Player update to 25.0.0.171. The FX settings point out the possible risks and in red letters recommend an update. But when I run the update, it gets blocked. The only setting I'm allowed is "ask if it should be activated"; "always activated is greyed out.

Unfortunately I sometimes need FX, othertimes I use Chrome which has an integrated Flash Player - easier and less hassle - why doesn't MOzilla/Firefox do this or work with Adobe to straighten these security problems out?

Ask to activate is OK. When asked agree, and if you wish agree to that setting being remembered for that site. You can visit Adobe's test page with Firefox to confirm the version of Flash Player installed:
