Firefox continually crashing with brief respites
I'm not on quantum (dislike that I can't use the handful of addons I have on it, including classic theme restorer), currently running 56.0.2 64 bit. Latest crash reports are as follows: Crash ID: bp-19c4cfa4-5a73-4e2f-87d6-af7160180215 Crash ID: bp-f08ac5f1-c087-450f-a562-ac9ac0180215 Crash ID: bp-b0ebd69b-3b94-4781-9d0b-3bf601180215 Crash ID: bp-9b97ebe6-fc33-45aa-8257-ca0ae1180215 Crash ID: bp-6685bb7e-b4d3-4f78-8af3-cc1e21180215
I can get maybe an hour of functional Firefox, then it'll rapid-fire crash like, 4 times in a row. It's frustrating, and I've already turned off hardware acceleration in hopes to get it to stop. I've limited my virtual paging file, that hasn't helped either.
Currently running Win 7 64 bit, so WIn 8/10 fixes probably won't help.

hi, this could be a hardware issue - please check the your ram/memory for faults with a tool like http://www.memtest.org
All of those reports show they were submitted a month ago (Feb. 15th) for crashes that occurred on that day in Firefox 55.0 or Firefox 56.0.
You don't have anything more recent that would be for your current version?
Or are you getting the Windows crash dialog instead of the Mozilla Crash Reporter?
Hi, sorry you feel like that about Quantum but it is supported and yours version is not.

If there is still Motherboard Drivers to be had I would check to see if anything new on the Motherboard Manufacturers site.
Fyi : Quantum has a full range of add-ons and this URL finds only Quantum compatible ones : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/ This should not be a deal breaker for updating. As there is no browser support for the Spectre and Meltdown issues. There is only 4 of yours that can not direct match, but there is options : Tumblr Savior - check, it's there Translate This! - there are 8 diff translate ones. Ran a memory diagnostic, no flaws were found. I can try to update my mobo drivers, but I don't think that's going to be much different from the disk I got with the mobo.
Those are the last ones in the Crash Reports folder. After that, it just started having issues even sending them, so they probably weren't saved because of that.
See, that kinda with classic theme restorer doesn't much help. I can't stand the new look, tabs on top sucks for someone actually acclimated to the file folder look, and I've shut down people telling me to switch to chrome too. If I wanted my browser to look like chrome, I would have gotten that, wouldn't I?

I don't think anyone on the forum is suggesting you switch to Google Chrome.
The userChrome.css file is a file that Firefox looks for at startup and applies to the user interface. Moving the tab bar may be one of its most frequent applications these days.

Don't rush your userChrome.css process; you definitely want to get the file in the right place the first time.

If you want to give it a play without replacing your main installation, you can try the "Portable" edition (installs into and runs from one folder, not using your existing settings):

Hi do not know, never used Chrome, never will hand my data to google blindly. You can put tabs on the bottom if wish to as per pics here : http://techdows.com/2017/09/classic-theme-restorer-userchrome-css-modify-firefox-57-photon-ui.html
Ya if it is a older motherboard there maybe nothing there for you to update with. Worth a look though. There are programs that do update that stuff iObit Driver Booster, Drivermax. Risk.
It's newer than my previous mobo, but, it's at least 5 years old. Can't really shell out for too new just yet, and staying on 7 can be limiting too. M5A99X EVO R2.0
I'll give pocket a try and fiddle around with it, see if it stays more stable, see what I can fix on it, but . . . we'll see.
I had to use MS Edge to see page downloads So might need IE with no blockers.
Did you update bios to 2501 https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards/M5A99X_EVO_R20/HelpDesk_BIOS/
There are Drivers for Win 7 x64 would grab them before go as they are newer than the CD that came with it.
I would get the last of the Win 10 if plan to go, lots taken off already https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards/M5A99X_EVO_R20/HelpDesk_Download/
I have 3 ASUS ROG Boards so it is pretty familiar to me in here.
Yeah, I just checked my bios, it's 2501
I've been arguing with userchrome to try to get everything in order again. I've tried multiple recommendations for tabs on top, they'll work for a while and then stop. It's kind of irritating.
