The undo command, or ctrl + z does not work when composing an email. I accidentally deleted text

I'm writing an email, accidentally deleted text, but the ctrl + z doesn't bring it back. Neither does the dropdown menu undo command

I can't reproduce the error. Ctrl Z works fine without going into safe mode, so I'm not sure what caused it on that one email.

It works here with TB 68 32-bit/W10. Same result in safe mode? Hold Shift when you launch TB.

i had used the highlighter tool before this happened, maybe that breaks the email functionality

Safe mode temporarily disables add-ons, among other things. Does Ctrl+Z work in safe mode?
