In Firefox for Mac, how can I reduce the sensitivity of the appearance of the Menu Bar when in full screen mode?

When I push the mouse to the top of the screen to change tabs, it immediately brings up both the Menu bar and the grey bar along the top of Firefox - blocking off the tabs I want to select.

This feels too sensitive and I am not making a deliberate extra push to bring this up - is there a way of making it harder to appear?
