Since updating from TB 78 to TB 90 several of the sub-folders of my gmail iMap account no longer appear or function correctly. For example, All Mail is not present at all. Also, although a Trash folder does exist, deleted messages do not appear. Therefore, I cannot recover an email which may have been deleted accidentally.

Right-click the account in the Folder Pane, Subscribe, Refresh. Do the missing folders appear in the list? If not, are they enabled for IMAP in gmail webmail settings?

Most users unsubscribe All Mail, and the recommended setting in TB for gmail is 'When I delete a message', 'Just mark it as deleted'.

As you suggested, I Right-clicked Subscribe and Refresh in my toopah99@gmail.com account. None of the missing folders appear in the list. Unfortunately I am 87 years old and a non-techie. I have tried, but been unsuccessful, in trying to locate whether they are enabled in IMAP in gmail web settings.

I have my settings for Gmail set as follows: When I delete a message, Move it to Trash on t toopah99@gmail.com. Move new Junk messages to Junk folder on toopah99@gmail.com When sending a message, place a copy in the Sent folder on toopah99@gmail.com I find the All Mail folder handy at times and would like to re-activate it if possible.

I would appreciate any further help you can offer. None of these problems existed prior to updating to TB 90.

Open the account in your browser on the gmail website and select Settings, Labels, and see if the folders are checked for 'Show in IMAP'.

Gmail automatically copies sent messages to the Sent Mail folder, so 'Place a copy in' in the Copies & Folders section of Tools/Account Settings should be unchecked, and the Sent Mail folder subscribed. Subscribe to All Mail if you find it useful.

Below, I've copied a portion of the information that appears under Labels. They all are marked "Show in IMAP." Sent show hide Show in IMAP Scheduled show hide show if unread Show in IMAP Drafts show hide show if unread Show in IMAP All Mail show hide Show in IMAP Spam show hide show if unread Show in IMAP Trash show hide Show in IMAP

I have Unchecked "Place a copy in Sent folder" as you suggested. Restarted TB. Nothing changed.

Did you subscribe to Sent Mail and All Mail? The attached picture shows the Subscribe window in my gmail account.

The only items that appear in my Subscribe Window, Folder List are: Drafts, Junk, Sent, Trash, and

[Gmail]^ Drafts. All Mail is not listed. All are checked as Subscribed, except for [Gmail]^ Drafts. Clicking on Refresh, has no effect. There is no option to subscribe to All Mail BTW: Although Trash is checked as Subscribed, If I delete a message from my In Box, it does not then appear under Trash (as it should).

I can't say why your folders aren't appearing. You could remove the account, from Account Actions in Account Settings, restart TB, and add it again as IMAP. TB should enter the correct settings, and the IMAP folders will download after authentication. If you want to be extra careful, create a new profile from Help/More Troubleshooting, about:profiles, and add the account in the new profile.

Just be aware that when using the subscribe function, if you just check the boxes it sometimes does not action the subscribe request on my mail, I have to highlight the folder then click the subscribe button on the menu. Plus with Outlook IMAP when naming the folders it recognises folders with a slash in their name (/) but for some reason Thunderbird does not, it took me a long time to arrive at this conclusion, so be careful with folder names!
