I have my view to show folders on left and to open each email in a new tab. That new tab however only shows the new email and covers the folders section. Is there a setting I can open emails in new separate tabs and keep the folder left section open? I like new tabs so I can easily go back and forth between several emails.

Can you post a screenshot? I cannot duplicate what you see. I have a tab for folders on left.

The folder view on left shows folders..correctly but if I open an email that folder view is no longer visible as the open email tab now covers that folder column. I was hoping there was a setting that the open email only covered the right section and left the folder section visible.
