Can't download a .csv file since browser update
I upgraded to Firefox 135.0 the other day and tried it out on a site I have used several times a week for at least 10 years. A .csv file that I regularly download failed to do so. The system simply failed to respond, and nothing appeared in the download window. The site offers the option of downloading the same data in a .xls file, and that worked. (My previous, obsolete, Firefox gave me the option of where to download to, and remembered the choice between vists. Such is progress!)

Did you ask the site how to download their .csv files?
I just click on the site's download button - that produces a dropdown window offering the .xls or .csv options.
What site? Provide the steps to replicate. Hard to help with something we cannot see.

Does the drop-down let you right-click > Save Link As on the CSV option? If so, see what happens when you try that.
More generally:
(1) The button/link/script might be malfunctioning for some reason related to changes in Firefox or the site. There are many possible factors to rule out, so if support volunteers can't get hands-on with the site, we'll suggest things to try.
(2) Sites can use different Content-Type values for CSV files, from "text/plain" to "text/csv" to something related to Excel. They also can instruct Firefox to save it (Content-Disposition: attachment), or just allow it to display in a tab. These variables make it a little tricky to predict/control how Firefox will handle the download. That is why it is very helpful if support volunteers can get hands on with the site. However, if it requires an account, we can suggest to you how to check on these things using the built-in developer tools or an add-on.

You should be able to control whether downloads auto-save to your designated Downloads folder or Firefox pops up a Save As window to choose the folder and edit the file name. Make sure the box is checked for "Always ask you where to save files" on the Settings page/General panel/Downloads section. Then scroll down to the Applications list and if there are any related to CSV files, you can change those to "Always Ask."
Thank you to everyone who offered advice. The problem is not fixed - I accidently clicked on the "problem solved" button while trying unsuccessfully to upload a screen shot. But I have given up on it. Life is too short, & I think it will be faster and easier to write a script to bypass the problem.
