Downloaded Avanquest Community Toolbar: it has highjacked the firefox home screen and I want rid of it. How, please?

I downloaded Avanquest Community Toolbar and found it unsuitable. It would not uninstall and has now highjacked the Firefox home screen. Even uninstalling completely and re-installing Ff cannot get rid of it. So far, I have been unable to find any relavent file that could be deleted.

Worse, an onscreen query on how to uninstall this add-on is automatically routed through the Avanquest system.

I really don't want it. Any ideas please?
