Why does the message '500 internal server error' appear when I use any search engine?

I am able to type a web address and use the internet successfully but when using ANY search engine I get the '500 internal server error' message. This appears if I type in a word to search bold textand the result is the error message. I have recently uninstalled rapport and hitman pro. Please help.
