I can't get Firefox to come up; when I download it again it says can't because Firefox in use.

I used Firefox on Saturday and then closed it (I thought). When I clicked on it yesterday, it wouldn't come up, not even when I went on Applications and clicked on that icon So I tried downloading it again, but when I went to drag the icon into the applications folder, I got a message saying I couldn't because Firefox was in use.
