I hate this change, I liked the old firefox and none of my add ons work. How to I go back to the one before 9.0.1? I like things a very particular way and it takes me a long time to get used to new things and this is freaking me out.

filehippo (a trustworthy site) has all the recent updates. Just click on the one you want. I too hated ff9 but wanted to go back to ff 3.6.25, so I did a system restore, & it went back to my old version.

Yeah so what was that supposed to do ? None of that is new info & FF9.0 still doesn't work .. I like change but good change, these new FF updates are not good for the end user.. No reason why I should have to jump thru hoops & be a programmer too just want to be a user.. They need to stop with this "Rapid Release" program they've been on just to beat the competition its not working because "faster is not better" in this case..

I've been having issues with FF since the 7 release so this is nothing new..

I'm also not a PC novice so I am finding these FF issues more than annoying.. 

I keep my PC "clutter free" are the only 2 words I can think of at the moment to describe the good condition my new PC is in.. I have nothing on it I don't need or use.. According to Kaspersky FF should have had the issues fixed by early January with two Kaspersky add-ons the Digital Keyboard & the URL Advisor.. Still not fixed as of today **sigh**..

FF freezes, hangs & is slow load.. I am constantly doing the > Options > Clear Cache every 10 min.. Then onto >Addons > Places Maintenance > Options > Click Expire tab > Click Execute to clear database.. It has more issues with Addons than ever before & it definitely has problems with AddThis & appears to be having issues with Twitter too.. They are both not feeling the love for each other I'm afraid.. I am on my laptop at least 10 hrs a day so this is beyond my blood pressure meds help now..

I've been using FF since hmm 2007 (?) close enough.. But I'm over these issues now.. In an attempt to calm myself I downloaded Chrome 3 X & uninstalled 3 X & while Chrome is definitely faster & cleaner than FF it has way too many security issues for my liking.. Also someone needs to tell the programmers at Google/Chrome that the majority of the people in the US are right handed so putting necessary & often used buttons on the left side of the screen is problematic.. Off my soapbox now **sigh**..

I'm still contemplating downloading Chrome again for its speed & opening up FF only for banking & shopping.. Is that a P/I/T/A ? Yes but has become a necessary evil since speed releases has over shadowed quality releases.. IMOO

Guess you didn't understand my comment but " I do all of that every 10 minutes" & it doesn't work or help...

-> Kaspersky add-ons are not a Firefox issue. As you can see in the replies http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=224799&pid=17920... that they have not released the patch so its their fault!! Ask them when they will release the update patch.

Known issue, it will be fixed with an update in january. This will always happen everytime FF releases new builds which they are now forced to do with the competition from Google Chrome which releases builds much faster than FF used to.

So if you depend on this toolbar functionality, then wait with the FF upgrades until a hotfix can be tested/released. You are not less protected, you just don't have the toolbar until the fix is released.

The patch would be released after January 11, 2012 to address the plugin incompatibility issue. Please realize that you are not less protected, as KIS/KAV products scan on the traffic level regardless. In the meantime, please do not upgrade to Firefox 9.0 if the toolbar functionality is important to you.

Please have someone re-read my original comment(s) to you.. All of the steps noted in your "basic troubleshooting" link (?) have been done & by me several times over.. That is not the cure the issues are on the FF/Mozilla side.. Sorry

Just as an FYI..

Those 2 Kaspersky addons the URL Advisor & the Digital Keyboard that don't work in FF 9.0 work really, really well & without issues in Chrome..


So guess its really a FF issue..

You can say and think whatever you want but the reality is that its Kaspersky's (and other third-party softwares) fault & responsibility to release Updated versions (these are third-party softwares) of their products if they want them to be used on a Platform-based softwares like Web Browsers.

Before, the add-on would have been disabled, unless it was obtained through Mozilla's Add-ons for Firefox page. But Mozilla reports that 75 percent of all extensions in use were not acquired there


This will "supposedly" now be cleared up with FF10 & we will see..

The changes in Firefox 10.0 aren't going to help with add-ons that contain binary files, as with most security suite add-ons for Firefox. They will continue toe need to be updated for each Firefox release.

Well then I'll switch to Chrome because Kaspersky addons works well with Chrome no problems already tested it..

There is some misinformation in this thread that should be clarified:

  • The information in the articles mha007 provided have a lot more than simply clearing your cache and databases. Steps like using Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to determine if the cause of the problem is an extension and trying a new profile to determine if the cause of the problem is installation-wide of local your data are one-time troubleshooting tools to help you diagnose the issue.
  • As was stated above, most add-ons are created by third-parties, not Mozilla. Firefox is the platform for add-ons. It's like complaining to Microsoft that Firefox doesn't work on the new version of Windows. Chrome is a different platform, ergo Kaspersky add-ons for Firefox does not equal Kaspersky add-ons for Chrome. It's like assuming Firefox on Mac is the same as Firefox on Windows. So if there's any responsibility on the part of Mozilla, it is to help add-on developers update their add-ons for the new version of Firefox. The Firefox source-code is always public, and all development is done in public. The code for the latest version of Firefox was ready for add-on developers for at least 12 weeks prior to release, and the release date is always public as well. Mozilla does reach out the Kaspersky before releasing a new version of Firefox, but unfortunately, Kaspersky's standard practice is to make a patch available after a Firefox release.
    It should also be emphasized that you don't need those add-ons. Don't worry, your anti-virus is not disabled. :)
  • I don't know where you got the idea that new versions of Firefox are released just to keep up with Chrome. That's an unfortunate myth. :(

There are multiple reasons. Mainly, improvements in Firefox that were tested and ready to go had to wait a lot longer to make it into an end-user release, because that release also had other planned non-related changes. That's why Firefox 4 took so long. For instance, many of the performance improvements you see in Firefox 4 were made in the second half of 2010. WebM support was ready to go almost a year before it reached end-users.

In the new system, changes that are ready don't have to wait for other non-related changes.

I should also note that there's a misconception about when those changes are made and tested. It's not like the changes in the next version are being made now (6 weeks before release) The changes you see in the current version were implemented at least 12 weeks before release. In the first half of that 12 weeks, those changes are tweaked according to feedback; and in the last 6 weeks, the code is set and in beta testing mode. What that means is if you download the latest beta in the next couple of days, that's what the next version is going to look/behave like.

Those are referred to as release trains. If a change isn't ready when the code is picking up changes for beta, the change has to wait another 6 weeks, when the train comes by.
