I have a new dell computer and the latest automatic update for firefox. The sownload speedtest.net response times on Firefox and only about 10% of the speeds
I recently purchased a new Dell computer with Windows 7 home premium already installed. I then downloaded Firefox and transferred all of my bookmarks. I was connected to the internet through a Motorola wireless router connected to cable.internet. I notice my response times were a little slow but I really didnot see the proble until ai started trying to watch on line video. I ran speed test and my download and upload times were both less than 3mbs. I then turn off the wireless and set up a wired connection to the router. no change. i then did the same thing with Internet Explorer and the speeds upload speed doubled and the download speed was 10 times faster any thoughts or suggestions?

hello, which security software is running on your pc? - some of them (f-secure, sophos) are known to cause slowdowns...
another cause might be the protected mode for firefox that adobe has introduced for its flash plugin. you could try downgrading to flash 10.3 and see if this resolves the issue.
Thanks. I am running f-secure provided by the cable company. are any easy fixes available?
please go to firefox > addons > extensions, disable entries related to f-secure & try if this has already made a difference in the detected bandwidth.
There was only one and it was related to face recognition and was already disabled
hello, i don't use the product myself, so unfortunately i cannot give you detailed guidance. but please also have a look into the f-secure settings and try to disable any features that might directly interfere with firefox (sandboxing, browser protection, traffic scan...).
another user reported that he could solve issue by disabling enhanced process monitoring in advanced settings > computer > deepguard.
I was using f-secure provided by charter communications. When I asked the the charter tech he waid the charter security suite was not compatable with firefox. I removed the charter software and replaced it with AVG and that seemed to have resolved the problem. Thanks for your help.
