Could you provide a little more context on the steps leading up to all of those errors? What were you trying to do?

I just recently inherited my inlaws computer running windows xp and decided to install an internal wireless router so we could use our ATT Uverse internet. it has not been connected to the internet since we brought it home a year an a half ago. once we got the internet up and running I went to the AVG to update our free software we had to install the new 2013. I did that using enternet explorer. I prefer to use Firefox but that was also out of date. I could not simply update that either and had to download the newest version. When I went to bed everything was working fine but the next morning i was unable to connect to the internet. the first message I got was that the firewall may be the problem. My search engine was changed from Google to AVG fire fox did not seem to like AVG playing that role and either did I. I tried to uninstall AVG but could not because apparently the night before Something did not fully load. I thought It was the AVG firewall. but by that time I was not able to connect to the internet. I had also uninstalled firefox already hoping to just start over with everything. but could not connect to the internet until I figured out after my diagnostic test that with some web addresses if I put the S behind the HTTP I could connect to that sight. I was able to do that with both firefox and AVG so I finished installing AVG so I could uninstall it and I Reinstalled firefox but problem was not fixed.

You have many options for security software, so I hope you find something you like. Microsoft's free Security Essentials package could tide you over in the meantime: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wi.../security-essentials-download (you can use IE to get it if you can't get it with Firefox). You may also need some Windows updates.

AVG may have added some add-ons to Firefox. You can check for and disable or remove those here:

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions category
orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Plugins category

Then to clean up your general search settings, you can use this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/searchreset/

The message "An internal error occurred in the Microsoft Internet extensions" is not a typical browser message. When I search it, I find some solutions that involve components of Windows. Do any of these help?

The last part of your diagnostic shows you are using a proxy server, but doesn't say which one. In a similar earlier thread, the poster was able to see the proxy server information in more detail: windows cannot connect to the internet using HTTP, HTTPS or FTP. Does that link help?

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Maybe do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
