I was having some problems loading Firefox (said that it could not install updates), so I completely uninstalled it and reinstalled the latest version. I then subscribed to Download Helper and even registered this new version. However, when I go to YouTube and download a file (conversion to MPEG4), the conversions usually fail and if they do not, my video player is stating that the the program has unsupported audio. Everything worked OK before this upgrade. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Some videos on YouTube are copyright protected and Google Inc. is always trying to keep them protect the videos from Third Party downloading tools.

Please make sure that the video you are attempting to download is not copyrighted.

If it is not copyrighted, try another downloading tool. I once tried the Freemake Video Downloader, to download my friend's video. It is free and works very well.

Most video players should be able to play the video files (FLV, MP4, WebM) without the need for any conversions.

If you have a problem with VDH then best is to ask advice at its support forum.

Thanks. It seems that no matter what conversion I try. The downloaded file is a .webm file which none of my video software programs can play.

You could download a video conversion tool to convert the file after it is downloaded.

I did and even paid the $28.50 for registration, but the conversions fail and I end up with a .webm file. Since I have paid the money, I would like to stick with DLH.

Such conversion tools probably only convert the video and leave the audio as is, so won't help if your player doesn't support the audio codec that is used.

That forum help page does not open. Maybe the site is overloaded with other people not knowing what to do with .webm files.  ;-)

I use many Freemake software to convert and download videos.

They are free and work extremely well.

I use the Freemake Video Downloader to download videos.

I use the Freemake Video Converter to convert some of my own videos.

I highly recommend the use of these tools. I have used them for about 1 and half years without any conversion issues. They even come with a Firefox extension.

You can find a list of all Freemake software here.

You didn't tell me about all the other crud that that these programs load into one's computer! I now have to spend a few hours getting rid of the "Entrusted" toolbar that won't go away in spite of being uninstalled

This advice was decidedly unhelpful

I apologize that the Freemake program installed additional programs on your computer. If programs are not uninstalling, please delete the program's root folder for your hard drive.

WARNING: Removing folders/files can cause damage to other programs and the Windows operating system. Use caution when manually deleting folders/files.

Thanks. I found instructions via Google that helped to remove the malware from all my browsers, deleted all related folders and registry keys. It took about one hour... JB
