Since I have downloaded FF 29, it continually comes up with a world map and wants me to answer some survey.
When I log into FF29 the home web page gives me a world map which then requires me to answer a survey which I have done once but it keeps repeating. I have had to go to Google Chrome because of the nuisance and wasted time.
Also FF29 does not seem to recognize PDF forms for printing when they are attachments to emails that I want to print out.

You can also set the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref (about:config) to an empty string to prevent Firefox from loading new snippets from the server and have the default snippets display. That is what I usually do.

You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure that nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.
You can check the home page setting:
- Tools > Options > General > Startup: Home page
Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.
If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware

- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

The map and survey come up as part of the Home Page. In fact I looked at the page sourcing and found that it was part of the Home page instillation and I need to get that part of the Home Page pull-up out somehow. At this point it is driving me crazy. I am using Google Chrome as a default browser just to get out of have it pop-up constantly. It clearly is part of the Firefox insertion. There should be a way to redact it. I don't see any Mal-ware or other "bad stuff" anywhere in the system.
I use this userContent.css code to hide that "flattened globe". I don't like the time it takes to load that image every time I open Firefox.
@-moz-document url(about:home) { #brandLogo { display:none !important; } }

You can use that code in Stylish, if you have that add-on installed.

Edit: I removed what I posted earlier about Adblock Plus, since it's no longer feasible since 2.6 (technical details for anyone interested). You can redefine the snippets server as described further down this thread.
You can also add the following line to your HOSTS file.
0.0.0.0 snippets.mozilla.com

Gingerbread Man,
"snippets" are below the Search Bar, like
What kind of Web do you want? Join Firefox users around the world shaping its future.
That "map" replaces the Firefox "brandLogo" currently. IIRC, that is either new or something that hasn't been messed with before. I'm not sure though, in most Profiles I use a different Homepage.
