Firefox blocking all https sites --- I can not even get my Google mail!!!
Firefox is blocking all https sites I can not even get my Google mail--- there is no option to bypass this block!
Nor can I just go to http://google.mail.com.... I can find NOTHING in the settings to disregard certificates
Firefox has gone way downhill in so many ways....

I respectfully disagree with you about Firefox..... The Firefox code is so bad that I only use it as a last resort. It constantly locks up and has done this on multiple PC's for the past 2 or 3 years. Anyway thanks for the suggestions but it turned out to be malware that Panda removed.
If Firefox is a "last resort," why were you using it to check e-mail? Wouldn't you use Google Chrome to access Google e-mail? I've never had problems with Firefox, so maybe I'm just lucky.
Added: Chrome and IE are coded by funded companies who hire programmers. Firefox is an open-source program funded by non-profit donations, which means it is what the users make it. So the "bad code" is probably just different, not bad.

Firefox hasn't "gone downhill" as you suggest. The same error on StackExchange has this post: "while many are chastising Firefox for it's (generally) exclusive 'flagging' of this, it's actually demonstrating a higher level of security standards." So Firefox hasn't gone downhill, it's gotten better at security.
Try this solution: http://timourrashed.com/issuer-certificate-is-unknown/
Open this chrome URI by pasting or typing this URI in the location/address bar to open the "Add Security Exception" window and check the certificate:
- chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul
In the location field type/paste the URL of the website
- retrieve the certificate via the "Get certificate" button
- inspect the certificate via the "View..." button
I thought I had Firefox licked after running my AV software....
but just discovered that I still can not go to the https google mail site!
I followed the directions to delete the cert8.db file but that has not fixed it either!
Going on 3 days of not being able to get many places with Firefox... anyone have any other suggestions? TIA Joe

Who is the issuer of the certificate?
Not sure the screen capture is above.... who ever Google uses..
Hi tittiger, could you use the method described in cor-el's post here: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1040729#answer-675728
In the form, paste the URL https://mail.google.com/ and Get the certificate and then View it.
What you want to inspect is what is listed under Issued by. Normally it's:
Common Name: Google Internet Authority G2 Organization: Google Inc.
What do you find?
