Why is my URL dark? Maybe I'm hacked. If this is a "feature", it makes me angry.

When I go to any web site, I see the lock icon, but the URL is overlaid with a dark bar, so I cannot see it.

Is gfx.xrender.enabled set to true on the about:config page?

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
