Where is About Firefox command that was previously under Firefox drop down and help menu

more options

I need to find out what version of Firefox for Mac I am using.

On previous versions of Firefox you just went to the Firefox dropdown menu and selected 'About Firefox'. Then they changed it so that 'About Firefox' was under the help menu.

Now I cannot find 'About Firefox', Where has it gone? Does anyone know why Mozilla have done this? For all other software I can find out all about it by going to the name dropdown and selecting About.... Why have Firefox seen fit to break a system that works perfectly even for high end sophisticated software.

I like using Firefox, but not being able to see what version i am using is a deal-breaker for me. If i cannot easily see what version I am using I will have to use Chrome. It is vital for security and troubleshooting to be able to work out what version I am using.

Sometimes websites I regularly visit might not work with the latest version of Firefox or it will not work properly on my compurter. When that happens I have to re-install a previous version, but for that i need to know exactly what version is running on my computer.

Also, if there are specific problems flagged up about a version of Firefox I need to know what version I am running so that I can troubleshoot. I also need to know if Firefox is up to date. I work away from good internet connections for weeks at a time. In those conditions i never download new software, so when i return to good internet i immediately want to check what versions of software I have and update them to the latest version at my convenience. I do not want to have to wait for Mozilla to contact me at their convenience so that i can update their software.

If anyone could help I would really appreciate it as I can find no advice online.

If Mozilla are reading this not being able to easily find out about Firefox really sucks. It is a security risk. What is wrong with the system that all other software writers consider sufficient and adequate?

You should still have a Help menu with About Firefox. And the "3-bar" menu button should still have a "?" menu with About Firefox. If yours are missing, something is wrong or customized with your menus.

(If all menus/toolbars are missing, your Firefox might be in full screen mode. Try Cmd+Shift+f to return to normal view.)

You also can view details about your Firefox installation using the support information page. Either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the first table on the page, Version is the second line.
