Can two versions of Firefox be run on a single computer - say, one with several start pages and another without?

I have three news websites load automatically as home pages. These are useful but sometimes I only want to access a website without waiting for these pages to load. Can Firefox be run using multiple "configurations" or "start up scripts"?

You can have multiple profiles, which will accomplish this. Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles
