I was updating a friends comp to W10 from W8 which caused the comp to freeze which needed a complete reset which resulted in a loss of all data. My friend who is 90 had trouble remembering p/ws so I had to revert to the password reset. Problem is that the reset details were sent to her via email and I can't access email. Is there a solution. Would appreciate help as my friend needs to access her emails & contacts. Thanks.

You both need to contact her e-mail provider and go to extra lengths to set a new password.

If her e-mail provider is her Internet Service Provider, then phone them up and explain the situation. They will confirm with her that she is who she says she is (have her Internet bills ready), then they will set a new password.

If her e-mail provider is Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, Outlook, or whatever, then you need to go through their procedures online to confirm her identity to set a new password. If she never provided any recovery information when the e-mail account was set up, then you probably will not be able to get a new password. She will have to create a new e-mail address.
