Thunderbird continually asks for password, correct password is given and still can't access. Using icloud.com/me.com

Thunderbird continually asks for email account password. Correct password is given and still won't connect. It was working fine for years and now something has changed.

I found the problem. Apple's Two-factor authentication was the issue. You must generate an App specific password to use with Thunderbird.
