Syncing contacts between multiple installations of Thunderbird?

I have a client using thunderbird to access their IMAP email. They have a laptop and desktop which Thunderbird is installed on. When they write emails to new addresses on one device, they want it to be seen on the other when they write another email. Is there anything special I need to do to make sure contact sync between the two desktop clients?
