Firefox not displaying/scrolling blogger dashblard & settings pages

Hi I've been here before about this. Hopefully jscher 2000 might remember. cor-el had also looked in briefly and suggested I begin a new thread. My stat, posts and some other pages mainly settings) in blogger don't scroll to reveal all they should. I've tried zoom out but that makes the text soooo small. Did get some error message but that didn't seem to be helpful. At least the help forum pages on blogger display correctly. And yes, I did do a help thread on blogger about this, but never got a solution. As background, this started sometime after Superbowl Sunday back in Feb.. Hadn't been a problem before, but sometime back then I noticed this was happening.

And don't think firefox is alone! Believe it or not with my IE11 and with opera (which I recently downloaded to be prepared to use for in-private browsing to blogger just in case...), it's EVEN WORSE. With them, the forum pages don't display properly either, so trying to use the forums with them is -----not totally impossible, but a REAL mess.

Any help here would be VERY much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried tweaking the Content settings and to change the default font size?

Have you tried resetting Firefox going to Help/Troubleshooting Information?

Well, no I hadn't tweaked content settings... just had to search out where to do this! The default font listed is on that page and is Times New Roman 16.

I can't see that the other options mentioned on that page (DRM, notifications, languages) would have anything to do with solving this.

And as for resetting via help/troubleshooting info... I have no idea even WHERE to find that!

cor-el also said I probably have an older version of firefox. Well I posted back in the other thread (On preloading my info with blogger) that I have no idea WHAT exact version I have ---- I had looked sometime ago, but I don't know where THAT'S listed, either! Think a newer version help? I just downloaded opera and it does the SAME THING, except opera is worse because opera does it for MORE pages on blogger!

I also mentioned this to the gal at blogger help forum and she said SHE didn't know of any other cases where firefox wasn't working with blogger properly. It seems VERY strange to me that I'm the ONLY one who has run into this?

Oh well, go figure.

I'm sorry you're experiencing these issues.

As for the troubleshooting information, check the attached screenshot.

The option is in the same place both in Windows and OS X, under the Help menu.

If you click there, it brings you to the about:support page, where you can click on Refresh Firefox.

The option restores Firefox to its standard settings and this way you should be able to solve your all issues.

Hi Matt -

Thanks for your reply. Took me a couple of minutes, though to find where the help button was. It was down by 'customize' - bad placement if you ask me, as I wasn't sure if it had to do with that synch and all...

And I did see 'refresh firefox' button on the troubleshooting info page (finally). I haven't tried that YET, but how will that work with my ad-blocker? And I guess I'd have to find and un-check that save logins for sites button again (well at least I do know about that now!).

Also on that troubleshooting page was my version: to be exact: 54.0.1 which I believe is the latest. Why did cor-el think I had an older version?

Anyway, before I do any 'refresh' I just want to make sure that won't mess up something else.

Hi, I'm glad you found the about:support page.

What "Refresh Firefox" does is starting from scratch, without any add-ons.

It's basically equivalent to a new Firefox install. All settings will be reset to defaults, so you'll have to re-install your add-ons individually.

As to your version, it's the latest one (it's the same I got, as well).

If you have saved logins, you can try using this extension to save them, though I'd recommend a password manager, as it's a much more secure solution.

Thanks for the clarification. I figured it had to be something like that and I don't think it should cause problems. BTW, I don't save logins anyway, so I won't need to worry about that :-)

I'm going to hold off on doing it for right now, though, mainly because I'm not too sure it's the answer. Why? If you or anyone else reading this thread remembers, the problem is also evident in my other two browsers, IE (I have IE11) and opera (I just downloaded that the other day and it should be the most recent). And it only seems to happen in blogger! In fact, it affects MORE blogger pages in IE and opera than this problem does in firefox! Could it be something specific to MY computer - that would affect all 3 browsers? I have also asked a couple of times in the blogger help forum if there were any changes in blogger around that time (Feb.) - and both helpers answered they didn't know of anything.

That's why this is so perplexing. Don't know if that will give you and anyone else something to contemplate, but there ought to be a clue somewhere!

And cool on being new and for wanting to help. This should be a challenge for you :-)

Well, if this problem affects all your browsers and happens only on blogger, I'd suggest to address this with blogger.

I do have to tell you, though, I have a Blogger blog, too, but I've never experienced this issue.

Maybe you got something wrong with Java, Flash or other plugins not necessarily tied to the browser, but to your specific system configuration. I know it's not the most helpful answer but, having been a Desktop Support and an Information Security Analyst, that's how you mostly find answers: through a process of exclusion.

My only new though is: have you checked for updates to the driver software for your graphics card/chipset? This article suggest safe ways to do that (unfortunately, search engines may point to dangerous fake downloads): Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL.

thanks for replying back..Well I HAVE addressed this with blogger. Did a thread on their help forum first thing after I started really having problems with this. You can even check out the thread since you're also on blogger. It's called something like "Help - I Can't Access My Sidebar Gadgets" and my blogger name is cinnamonblue. They never came up with any solution.

If it's java or flash, I'm not sure what to do. I did update java not too long ago when I was working on another tech problem, getting IE 11 to play twitter videos. But that didn't have any effect and now java is also periodically saying I need to update AGAIN. Flash???? Well, I have no idea on that one! Could either of those have an effect on this....since you're in blogger you must have some sense of what's going on. For example, on my stats page, you know there's a little map and if you click on 'more' on top of that you can get a list of how many page views you get by country. Well my page won't even scroll to the end of the map..it STOPS just at the top of it!

Anyway, let me know about possibly updating flash...

I di see my driver maker is probably Nvidia... but the only updates thing I've found on my computer is Windows Updates and it says it will search for them and then install. I DO NOT WANT TO INSTALL ANY WINDOWS UPDATES RIGHT NOW!!!

Should I just go to the Nvidia site, maybe?

Stella, you might want to check these two pages:

This way, you might be able to narrow down the source of the problem and to understand if any of your plugins need updated.

Anyway, if you go to the Stats page in your blogger blog, right-click the "More" link next to Audience and choose View Source, you realize it calls a JavaScript.

I suggest starting with your manufacturer (e.g., HP, Dell, Lenovo). Their support sites usually have an approved version of the drivers for your specific computer configuration. However, if you bought the Nvidia graphics separately (e.g., at a retail store), then it would make more sense to go directly to Nvidia's site.

Hey, thanks for those links, I will visit them later. So much is going on online with me... My cousin DID NOT get her subscription to my blog NOR the latest post I e-mailed via blogger to her because she missed it. Obviously there is some BIG problem with blogger handling my blog subscriptions.

So going to view the page views by country calls a java script, eh? Well, since I really don't know code I wouldn't have bothered to "view source." Maybe if java is a problem that plugin check might tell.

I will be back and report results, if any...

Note that JavaScript has nothing to do with the Java plugin used on older Firefox versions. JavaScript is builtin and should always work. The current Firefox releases only support the Shockwave Flash plugin.

Now you mention graphics display driver and hardware acceleration in firefox ---- so you don't mean my computer's graphics card? And how in the world would I ever check those? And would that also account for the same problem also occurring with the other two browsers?

Just also remember I'm not so high tech as you are and really need clear, exact language on what you're talking about, ok?
