Hard to track down a problem if you don't know the source.

I sometimes see the following message at the top of an otherwise blank white window in Firefox.

"Prefetching or precaching is not allowed. If you have Google Accelerator enabled, please disable"

I see it occasionally when I am using a message board running IPBoard software. Googling shows that others see the message at times on IPVision board. No solutions have been found. This behavior started for me only after the recent new FF version came out, but some of the other questions go back to 2014. Google Accelerator is defunct, I gather, and I've never used it. The admins on the two boards have not been able to help so far. The message sometimes (but not always) appears when I am using the back button in the browser to return from a message thread to the list of topics in a forum.

I'm not sure what might be trying to prefetch content. A good first step, though, might be to know the source of that message. So after that long intro, the simple question is whether or not Firefox is generating that message.

Thanks.

If it happens after using the Back button then this can be caused by returning to an older version of the page from the cache that has outdated security tokens or cookies that are no longer valid. You can probably refresh the page via F5 or Reload to get an updated page. This is similar to Firefox showing a message about re-sending POST data if you use the Back button to return to a page.

Thank you. So you can confirm that Firefox is posting that message?

You spoke of outdated security tokens or cookies no longer valid "from the cache." This is the cache on my computer?

After the message appears, I don't have to do anything to get back to the list of forum threads except hit the back button a second time, so it's only a minor nuisance. I've never seen this behavior until a month ago, and now only in that particular situation, and it happens only intermittently. Could that be because the forum list has been updated from the one I was looking at before? If that's it, why not just call for a new page? I seem to recall that I can disable caching, but that seems overkill for a problem that occurs on only two message board sites.

I appreciate your help.
