While tapping the ESC key you can middle-click the Tab to close it.

seems you have contacted some form of malware, i suggest scanning for threats.
Start with this support article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware
Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
