Why Firefox does not free RAM memory when closing browser tabs? It seems to me that many users have long complained about this serious problem.

Actually it does release the RAM when you close it-when working. This would mean your install or FF currently is corrupted to cause this problem or a Addon isn't closing causing the RAM to be still used.
