Due to several spam mails, I decided to install thunderbird from scratch; So I uninstalled the software and deleted the entire profile folder, expecting that the subsequent installation of thunderbird would start really from scratch. unfortunately, installation will not initiate, as the software is looking for the profile. So, how do i perform a entirely new installation of thunderbird ?

thank you, eric

What exactly did you delete? Please provide the exact folder name and the full path.

So you deleted the profile folder, but left the profiles.ini file untouched. Profiles.ini tells Thunderbird where to look for the profile.

The proper way to remove a profile is to use profile manager. That will remove the entry in profiles.ini as well. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles#w_deleting-a-profile
