Clicking Home button clears the address bar but doesn't show about:blank until after many clicks. I tried setting browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.aboutHome.enabled, but that option is not available in Firefox 60. How do I get back simple Home button behavior: click the Home button once and my homepage (about:blank) is shown?

Setting the home page to about:blank should work and open a blank page when you click the Home button.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
