I've tried changing the theme, changing the text colors in preferences, setting override colors to sometimes, always, or never. There are still some text boxes that have dark-on-dark color schemes which makes it very difficult to read what you type or select. I don't have a night-mode extension, problem persists when firefox starts in safemode. I'm using Linux Mint 18 Sarah 64-bit, firefox version 61.0.1 64-bit.

Separate Security Issue, please update your Flash 29.0 r0 Flash Player Version: 30.0.0.113 Current Version https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, . . . .)

Please : Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

SafeMode-Fx35

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

You can look at the NoSquint Plus extension to set font size (text/page zoom) and text color on web pages.

Try Firefox Safe Mode

As stated in my first post, the problem persists in safe mode. I have updated my flashplayer though.

This extension helps with some cases, but there are still some text menus that do not change.

You can try to contact the developer of NoSquint Plus and ask him if it is possible to look into these cases where it doesn't work.

This is a problem with your GTK theme being used as the default background but not the default text when it shouldn't be used for either inside firefox. This is a summary from a bugzilla form . So far their are 4 workarounds:Editing the aboutconfig file , Installing an addon that works 98% of the time, backup your profile, then place the userContent.css file in your ~/.mozille/firefox/XXXXXXXX.default/chrome directory - create it if it doesn't exist), or you could use a light theme.
