STR:

Play a YouTube video in a private window.

Lower the volume in YouTube's player.

Open another YouTube video in a new tab.

Result:

The volume level is set to default.

Is it possible to make FF remember the volume level in private-browsing?

If I'm not wrong, FF 70 (NOT earlier versions) did remember the volume level even in private-browsing. FF 70.0.1 does not.

YouTube might be using local storage instead of cookies to store settings like the volume level and in PB mode all storage is kept in memory, so this might not work for preserving the volume level.

Hello cor-el,

Thanks for replying. I appreciate it.

YouTube is just an example. It's relevant to any site playing videos. The data is stored in webappsstore.sqlite.

I've filed a bug. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1593855

You can't. Private Browsing mode means that Firefox doesn't store data to disk (cookies and local storage) and this is also respected by plugins like Flash. You will have to revert from using PB mode to be able to keep the volume setting and other settings.

Dinushi Dhananjani,

Thanks for replying. I appreciate it.

FF does store data for the current session. For example: if you login to a site and open it in a new tab, you're still logged-in. Why should the volume level be different? - I usually use PB and the current behavior is extremely inconvenient.
