unwanted characters are introduced automatically in sent email

Hello Team,

I noticed that when sending reply emails via Thunderbird email application, Thunderbird is automatically adding characters in reply which are visible only after email is sent.

For example, I have seen below two characters being introduced on two separate occasion. It appears that these characters are replacement of what some spaces from original emails from sender.

Attached is screenshot of the two emails from sent folder.

Please advise why this happens and how to fix it.
