Hi,

Im having trouble with this for a couple of days now.

Thunderbird will receive emails just fine but when trying to send a mail from any of either accounts (i have 2 gmail accounts in my thunderbird client) it gives me an error message saying that the gmail server for smtp timed out

Thunderbird version 78.10.1 64 bit on Windows

This are the settings for both accounts:

Outgoing smtp.gmail.com Port 465 SSL/TLS Authentication method: Normal password

Incoming: imap.gmail.com Port 993 SSL/TLS Authentication method: Normal Password

I already turned of my firewall and antivirus and i have checked if the ports are blocked on my router and they are not blocked.

Please can anyone help with this

Thnx

I have the same problem.

Receiving emails work. Sending emails doesn't work.

My Gmail is set to allow 'unsafe' apps - and I'm not using 2FA.

Same here, also no 2FA and allow unsafe apps is on, i tried removing and re adding the accounts multiple times but to no avail.

Sending a simple email shouldnt be this headache inducing..

I think I've solved it! On the SMTP setup in Thunderbird I selected OAUTH2 as authentication method - that worked.

I tried that just now,

Changed both to Oauth2 and the problem remains for me :/
