I just noticed that my Thunderbird address book is empty. I am running version 91.2.1. I've included a screen capture of the directory where the address book files are located.

FIxed this by removing the pab.na2 file.

I have the same problem AND I cannot send emails. The solution: "FIxed this by removing the pab.na2 file." does not work for me. No such file. I have TBird version 91.6.0 and running on Windows 10 Version 10.0.19044 Build 19044.
